This is a stunning antique 19th Century Moonstone Etruscan Revival ring. The Etruscan Archaeological Revival ring features a magnificent oval Moonstone cabochon of gorgeous colour and luminescence. It is set in a 10 Karat Gold design with exquisite Etruscan Revival hand applied granulation beaded designs. The central moonstone is absolutely magnificent and is 10mm by 7mm and sits 5mm above the gold setting. The Etruscan jewels are characterised by exquisite hand applied micro beading and this ring is a masterpiece of the technique. The Etruscan setting dates to circa 1860.

Moonstones have drawn history through the ages into their spell. The Romans believed they were formed from Moonbeams. In Eastern cultures, it was believed the gems washed up from the ocean and that they were imbued with prophetic and romantic power. The Victorians were enamoured with the beauty and mystery of the gems and treasured them in their jewels.

The top of the ring is 15mm by 12mm. The ring sits 7mm above the finger.
The ring is currently a size 5.5 US and can be easily resized if desired. The ring shank may be a later addition.
