Description

Tabua is called a polished sperm whale tooth, which is an essential cultural item in Fijian society. They began to play a unique role in the XIX century when sperm whale teeth started to get to the islands in relatively large numbers through European and American whalers.

“For this is what is connected with the teeth of a sperm whale: whoever accepts such a tooth as a gift must fulfil the request usually expressed when it is given or later. You can ask for anything, starting with human life and ending with an alliance between tribes, and no Fijian would lose honour enough to accept a tooth but refuse the request” – Jack London, “The Tooth of a Sperm Whale.”

Sevenworlds is a contemporary minimalist jewellery brand inspired by cultures and ethnicities from all around the world.

It is about people, who remain human above.
